GAY ART PARODIES I have been working on this series since 1995, using images gathered from the web which are re-composed using Adobe Photoshop. It started with the realization that while images of the female nude have been ubiquitous in paintings for centuries the male nude has hardly been recognized as a proper subject in serious art. I began by creating what I call “Gender Bent” paintings which challenge that notion by replacing the central female nude (such as Manet’s OLYMPIA) with a male nude figure and creating a parody of that painting. I have many more works than are currently displayed on the site, and will add more from time to time. Eventually I decided to expand the parody concept by simply adding a male image to a painting which is generally well known while trying to maintain the mood or tone of the original painting. I call this gallery in Art Parodies “Male Image Added” MANipulations Just for ‘grins’ I also started manipulating web images that have come from a variety of sources and ultimately of unknown origin - sometimes in an attempt to be artistic, sometimes just for fun, and sometimes to create an erotic image. Currently featured are two categories of such manipulation of the male image; “Collage” and “ImaginEros”.
